Initiative Summary:

The In Unison initiative aimed to improve coordination between the various governmental departments whose policies impact the lives of people with disabilities. In 1998, In Unison outlined the importance of intergovernmental cooperation to improve service delivery, reduce administrative duplication and enable the portability of supports across Canada.

To prepare In Unison 2000, the Federal-Provincial-Territorial Ministers Responsible for Social Services conducted consultations with Canadians with disabilities to report on their experiences. The document contains facts and figures that paint a portrait of life with a disability in Canada, and profiles individual Canadians with disabilities to illustrate both their successes and the barriers they face.
